The human side is all too often open to evil (Aren't we all at one time or another? Catholics and Protestants, Democrats and Republicans, etc.). History shows many instances of the human side of the Church getting in the way. And yet, 2000 years later, in spite of the human side, it still struggles towards heaven, and with faith we hang on and hope. Doesn't that say a lot for the patience of the Divinity??

sexual abuse sadly happens everywhere and shouldn't be seen any different just because some cases happen in the mormon church. people make mistakes. the church shouldn't be blamed for individual's bad choices.
the church is very concerned about the image it was given years ago as a cult.
they practice a faith that is missunderstood by a lot of people as they keep to themselves.
the timple is a spiritual place and what goes on there is for the person whom truelly believes and has a '; clean'; life.

The New York Times implicates McCain as performing legislative and political favors for a female lobbyist in exchange for use of a private jet and funneling of corporate donations. There is also an implication of a possible sexual scandal. If these things are true, will you still vote for, or continue to support, McCain as the Republican nominee?

If a Church is founded by and on the veracity of Jesus then it is true, regardless. If the church is founded by men its veracity is based on that man or men and scandal destroys it.

The point is, sometimes God's chosen ones betray him. That is a fact that we have to confront. Instead they recognized that you don't judge a movement by those who don't live it but by those who do. Rather than focusing on the betrayer, they focused on the other eleven on account of whose work, preaching, miracles, and love for Christ we are here today. It is on account of the other eleven that Christianity is alive and well today!
For the same reason, it is on account of the good popes, priests and lay people that the Catholic Church is what it is today. Christ has indeed kept his promise to be with his Church till the end of the age.

One priest may admit to having done an illegal act but that does not do justice for the thousands of people that listened to his words of compassion and went out and helped others improve their lives and are better for it.
